Cooling analysis of motors with 'Simerics MP+'

Not only applicable to hydraulic circuits such as engines and transmissions, but there are also numerous achievements in the analysis of oil cooling, water cooling, and air cooling circuits for motors and batteries!

PumpLinx is a fluid analysis software designed to calculate the transient characteristics of various volumetric pumps, compressors, and valves. It is developed based on the thermal fluid analysis software Simerics MP and utilizes all the features of Simerics MP. 【The following fluid analyses are possible】 ■ Free surface flow ■ Flow considering the compressibility of air contained in liquids ■ Pressure pulsation and water hammer effects ■ Coupling of pump flow with the rigid body motion of valves and cam rings ■ Flow in low to medium vacuum conditions ■ Compressible flow (subsonic) ■ Cavitation ■ Time variation of flow field (velocity vectors, pressure), flow rate, fluid forces, and torque The biggest strength is the ability to automatically create meshes with clearances in the µm range, which is difficult with other general-purpose fluid analysis software!! Recently, there have been increasing inquiries about SimericsMP+ due to difficulties in VOF analysis with other CFD software. SimericsMP+ has strengths in VOF and is well-regarded for its support. *There is a lot of information that cannot be posted online. Especially, the actual mesh creation and movement should definitely be demonstrated in a demo!

Particleworks Piston Oil Cooling Analysis

Predicting and addressing cooling with oil and water is possible! Introducing the coupled analysis of Particleworks.

We would like to introduce the coupled analysis of our fluid analysis software, 'Particleworks.' This product can output the heat transfer coefficient from flow information, enabling predictions and countermeasures for cooling with oil or water, such as cooling the cylinder head of an engine, motor cooling, and cooling of steel plates. This function models the heat flux to the wall surface using the heat transfer coefficient and estimates the heat extraction (heating) amount on the polygon wall surface. It is applicable to phenomena where the main fluid temperature is constant and a boundary layer exists. 【Features】 - Enables predictions and countermeasures for cooling with oil or water - Models heat flux to the wall surface using the heat transfer coefficient - Estimates the heat extraction (heating) amount on the polygon wall surface - Applicable to phenomena where a boundary layer exists *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Analysis Case] Mold Cooling Analysis

Consider the cooling pipes of the mold! Understand the displacement with higher accuracy and the temperature distribution inside the mold.

We would like to introduce our "Mold Cooling Analysis." By conducting an analysis that takes cooling effects into account, it is possible to confirm the displacement of products due to cooling and the temperature distribution inside the mold. This approach allows for the optimization of the arrangement of cooling pipes, maximizing the cooling effect and achieving a uniform temperature distribution within the mold. Even for product shapes that we have not previously encountered, we can reduce the number of prototypes and achieve rapid product commercialization by identifying and resolving issues in advance through simulation. 【Features】 ■ Conducts analysis considering cooling effects, allowing confirmation of product displacement due to cooling and the temperature distribution inside the mold. ■ Optimizes the arrangement of cooling pipes to maximize the cooling effect, resulting in a uniform temperature distribution within the mold. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[AICFD] Cooling Analysis of Battery Packs for New Energy Vehicles

Using a porous media model! Create and evaluate the temperature distribution map on the model surface and the temperature distribution map of the central cross-section.

Battery packs are currently widely used in electric vehicles, smartphones, and energy storage technologies, and in such systems, improving the performance of battery packs often becomes the key to product enhancement. In this analysis, we will evaluate the heat dissipation and air cooling effects of a battery module for electric vehicles using a porous medium model instead of a heat sink, and assess the temperature results. As analysis conditions, we set the inlet flow velocity to 5 [m/s] and the outlet static pressure to 0 [Pa], applying the porous medium model to the fins of the heat sink. *For more detailed information, you can view the related links. Analysis of pressure loss and cooling in energy storage converters.

A comparison was made between the temperature and pressure results obtained from AICFD and the reference results.

Using the general-purpose thermal fluid analysis software AICFD, we will analyze the pressure loss and cooling performance of the energy storage converter. We will conduct an analysis that includes a cooling fan, and check the internal flow field and the temperature conditions of the mounted IGBTs. The mesh model to be analyzed consists of 2 inlets and 3 outlets, with boundary conditions assigned. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
